A Designer’s Love Story: Purple Grove Place
Let me tell you—this room started as the definition of a blank canvas. We’re talking agreeable gray walls just hanging on for dear life, living on a wing and a prayer. But then... enter the sofa. Not just any sofa—the most fabulous emerald green sofa you’ve ever laid eyes on, courtesy of CB2. The moment it landed in my office, I knew I was off to an amazing start. The vision was locked in, the color palette was living rent-free in my mind, and I was fully ready to transform this space into the purple dream office I had always imagined.
Before
When my emerald green sofa finally arrived for my home-office, I didn’t just see a piece of furniture — I saw potential. The rich, jewel-toned velvet practically demanded a dramatic backdrop. I knew right then that this wasn’t going to be a neutral space. It was going to be bold, expressive, and entirely mine.
So naturally, I made a beeline for The Home Depot. With a clear vision (and a slightly impulsive urge for change), I headed straight to the paint aisle and found myself drawn to Behr’s Euphoric Magenta. The name alone had me hooked — and the color? Even better. This hue is a daring mix of purple, plum, and magenta undertones that shift beautifully depending on the light. I chose a satin finish for a soft sheen that feels luxe without going overboard.

Painting the walls transformed the entire vibe of the space. The purple walls and emerald sofa play off each other like a high-fashion color palette — moody, glamorous, and surprisingly cozy. It's the kind of contrast that makes a room feel intentional and alive.

Once the painting was completed and the furniture was in place, I was ready to roll up my sleeves and get organized. Between design samples, organizing labels, business paperwork, and — yes — the essential snack stash, I needed a system that could handle it all. The Kallax shelving system from IKEA was my go-to. It’s a budget-friendly, functional piece that offers serious storage without cramping your style.
To complement the bold wall color without clashing, I stuck to a neutral palette for the storage bins. I mixed and matched some of the best on the market — from Neat Method for their sleek, structured look, to Bed Bath & Beyond and IKEA’s own options for affordability and variety. The combination created a clean, cohesive backdrop that let the rest of the room’s bold personality shine through.

And of course, no creative space of mine would be complete without standout lighting. I layered in some stunning lighting from West Elm, Intaglia Home, and CB2 — a mix of table lamps and an overhead fixture to keep things functional and beautiful from day to night. To top it all off, I brought in abstract art from ZGallerie —statement pieces that echo the purple walls while introducing movement and personality to the room. The shapes and brushstrokes feel energetic and intentional, not “matchy‑matchy,” and tie the space together in a way that feels uniquely mine.

My heart is filled with joy every time I walk in. There's something thrilling about seeing my emerald sofa pop against my purple walls under glowing light. Now, my home-office is more than just a place to work — it’s a vibrant, inspiring sanctuary where creativity flows and every detail feels intentional. Everything has its place — and I can focus on running my business in a space that feels both inspiring and completely “me.”
